Thinking today about one of my favorite scenes. It's at the end of Season 4's "Moving On" episode. In summary, Wild West show comes to town, Sara remembers she's an expert horse rider, Sara decides to run away and join the show to be with U.S. Marshall Zak Morgan. Early one morning, Sara leaves Aunt Hetty a note telling her she's going away, but shortly after, discovers the show has left without her. She returns to confront Aunt Hetty unsure if her note has been read. They meet in the kitchen where Aunt Hetty is cooking breakfast, pretending not to know of Sara's plans. The exchange between them had me frozen in place. No explanation from Sara, just a big hug that said it all. What is your scene that left you holding your breath in anticipation?

That really is an amazing scene from Moving On, now that you mention it. I like these scenes with Jackie Burroughs so much more than in episodes where she is over-acting, like in 'King of the Great White Way' where she is wildly over-acting to support the musicale, of all things.
Speaking of Great Jackie moments, I would give my "hold your breath moment" to the end of 'Aunt Hetty's Ordeal,' where Gus plays the performance for Hetty. Amazingly, it's one of the best moments and there is hardly a word spoken.
My runner up would be Peg Bowen entering the church in 'Conversions' and confronting the town for their less than charitable behavior. I remember watching that scene and thinking, what is going to happen?

I think mine would be when baby Montgomery was born and was not originally breathing. I remember literally holding my breath until the baby cried. Jasper continuously spanking the baby until it would breathe was hard to watch because you could feel the desperation from him.

Marie - I was thinking of this very episode, too. I also remember a later episode where a mother gives birth but the mother dies. Alas, it would be a bigger surprise if a TV show filmed a mother giving birth with no complications at all!--Michael

That's another good scene, Marie. In an online chat a few years ago, Mag Ruffman said that was her best acting scene. Definitely a hold your breath moment!
