It dawned on me why so many women from the 80's and 90's generation liked Megan Follow's Anne of Green Gables version. Like my Aunt admitted they had the hots for Gilbert (and Gus from the Avonlea spin off.). Because of this 80's/90's fan girls weren't able to see the underlining bigotry and bullying in the series.
As a literature major, I have a keen understanding of LM Montgomery's books and a strong understanding of film adaptation. Unlike the 80s fan girls, I don't let raging hormones guide my love and understanding of LM Montgomery.
